Ares Secondaries discloses $500m Sabey deal as continuation vehicles close without prices

Sun Capital's Anderson Global and Center Rock's Power Services Group were among three continuation vehicles that closed without a disclosed price or size.

On Oct. 5, Ares Secondaries disclosed a $500 million transaction with Sabey Data Center Properties, the only secondaries deal in the week's coverage to carry a dollar figure. Ares Management is also named on the deal and National Real Estate Advisors appears among the parties, but the coverage does not say whether the transaction is a fund stake, an asset-level interest or a recapitalization, which leaves the week's single published price attached to no described structure.

The GP-led market spent the same week closing vehicles without saying what they cost. Sun Capital closed a continuation vehicle for Anderson Global that gives Fund VIII's limited partners a liquidity option or a roll, with no price, size or lead buyer disclosed, and Center Rock closed one for Power Services Group led by New 2ND Capital, PE Hub reporting no price, vehicle size or rollover terms for the Cape Coral supplier of turbine parts. Warburg Pincus, meanwhile, funded liquidity for Awayday's holders from its $4bn-plus Capital Solutions Founders Fund, per AltAssets, leaving Ares Management and LightBay Capital as controlling shareholders and disclosing no price for the transaction that did it.

Three continuation vehicles closed without a disclosed price this week, two of them the ones named above; count every secondaries transaction in the coverage and the ratio is four unpriced against one priced: the two continuation vehicles, the Warburg-funded Awayday liquidity and the Harrison Street Private Wealth real assets secondary that Nasdaq Fund Secondaries and LODAS Markets announced for wealth platforms.

The only checkable figure of the week sits on a data center portfolio, which says something about where price discovery surfaces. Data center assets can be triangulated against power, land and lease economics; a stake inside a private portfolio can be checked against nothing outside the fund. That is a plausible reason the Sabey number appeared and the continuation vehicles' did not, though the coverage offers no explanation of its own, and the possibility that the parties simply chose to publish a figure should not be dismissed. The Sabey transaction is also announced rather than closed, while the four unpriced transactions are finished business.

Ares Management sits on both sides of the week's activity, named in the Sabey transaction and still a controlling shareholder of Awayday alongside LightBay. Nothing in the reporting connects the two.

What closed without a number

Sun Capital's Anderson Global vehicle is the firm's second continuation vehicle of 2026, a data point about repeat use of the structure as much as about Anderson Global itself. Its terms give Fund VIII's limited partners a choice between taking liquidity and rolling, and the price at which either happens is the figure a comparables set would be built from; the coverage omits it, along with the vehicle's size and the identity of any buyer. Center Rock's Power Services Group closed in the same shape, with New 2ND Capital named as lead and no disclosure of price, vehicle size or the terms on which existing holders rolled.

A published continuation vehicle price would settle three things at once: what the buyer paid, what rolling LPs marked their interest at, and how both compare with the multiples the buyout market is striking on comparable businesses. None of that is available for the vehicles that closed this week, and nothing in the reporting says the sponsors intend to supply it.

The week was not one of universal silence, and the pattern is easy to overstate: a $6.3 billion insurance risk transfer, an $87 million fund close, a $451 million debt fund and a fund registration all carried some form of disclosure. None of them was a GP-led continuation vehicle closing, and the structure that filled most of the week's coverage published no prices at all.

Price silence is not remarkable in a market where interests change hands privately, and nothing in the reporting suggests anyone involved contested the omissions. What the omissions leave standing is that buyers and rolling LPs transacted without a public benchmark while the figures that did reach the market attached either to assets with external reference points or to vehicles with registration and filing obligations behind them. The week's reports are consistent with that reading; they do not test it.
